News & Announcements
Delayed Opening This Monday, December 18
DELAYED OPENING THIS MONDAY, DECEMBER 18, AT 1 PM, as we begin renovations in our Children's Area. For your safety, please keep kids away from the Children's Area during construction, which should continue through December. Story time will be held in another part of the library. Also, please ask a staff member for assistance in getting books or movies from the Children's Area. We appreciate your patience and support!
Organizing Workshop
Need some help getting your act together for the new year? Don't miss "From Chaos to Calm: A Workshop on Organizing Self, Space, and Time," featuring helpful hints from three professional organizers, on Tuesday, January 16, from 7 to 8:30 pm. Call to RSVP.
Holiday Train Exhibit Through December 30!
Our Holiday Train Exhibit is up through Saturday the 30th. Before planning your visit, please check the exhibit times by clicking on the "Children," "Teens," or "Adults" tabs on this website. This week, the exhibit is open Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday 4-6 pm, Tuesday 7-9 pm, Friday 3-5 pm, and Saturday 1-3 pm.
Mastering the Art of the Interview
Dr. Linda Luciano, founder and president of CareerCoachingbyLinda.com, will conduct an interactive workshop to equip participants with valuable strategies and tips to confidently approach job interviews on Monday, January 22, at 7 pm. Call to RSVP.
Lego Mindstorms
Middle and high school students, we will work on programming our newly built Lego Mindstorms robot one more Monday this month, December 18, from 4 to 5 pm. Call for more information or to sign up!
Rubber Stamp Making Workshop
Learn how to carve your own stamps out of rubber, and then use them to create a set of two printed tea towels! All materials provided. Space is limited, so RSVP is required.
Coming Soon: The Performing Arts Project
Does your elementary school age child love to perform? Join us every Saturday in January from noon to 1 pm for a four-week class led by drama teacher Missy Bonaguide, which will feature improv, acting, and musical theater. RSVP 973-226-8636
Scott's Solutions: Now on Fridays!
Library assistant Scott Bergenfeld can show you the basics of Microsoft Word, Excel, and other tech resources FRIDAYS 9 am-noon. Safely navigate social media; create resume templates, letters, and spreadsheets; utilize cell phone, iPad, and Kindle features, such as calendars and more. No RSVP needed for this drop-in instruction.
Library Book Club
The Roseland Free Public Library Book Club's next meeting will on Wednesday, January 24, at 7:15 pm. The group will discuss The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid. New members welcome.
Knitting & Crochet Club
Enjoy an evening of knitting and crocheting at the library on Monday, January 29, starting at 7 pm. New members welcome.
Matinee Monday Resumes on January 8
There will be no Monday Matinees while our Holiday Train Exhibit takes over our Community Room! Movies will resume on Monday, January 8, with The Big Sick, at our usual time of 1 to 3 pm.
Adult Meditation Classes Resume in January
Guided Meditation classes will resume on Thursday, January 11, at 10 am, followed by Thursday, January 25 at 7 pm. There will be no classes for the remainder of December because the Holiday Train Exhibit will be on display in the Community Room.
Adult Yoga Resumes on January 10
There will be no Adult Yoga Class while our Holiday Train Exhibit is in the Community Room, but our weekly classes with Taryn and Kristin will resume on Wednesday, January 10, at a new time, 11:30 am.
Mobile Hotspots Available
Mobile Hotspots are now available for our patrons to borrow! Available to patrons 18 or older with a valid driver's license and Roseland Free Public Library card in good standing. Each hotspot provides internet access for up to 10 devices. Reservations are on a first-come, first-served basis, and the loan period is 14 days. There will be a $5 per day late fee.
Museum Passes Available
Patrons can borrow passes for themselves and/or their families for The Newark Museum, Montclair Museum, Morris Museum, The NY Transit Museum, and (coming soon) Imagine That!
